Telecommunications Payload Engineer
At CONSTELLATION TECHNOLOGIES & OPERATIONS we believe that everyone on Earth should have access to internet connectivity and we are on a mission to empower telecom operators to deliver high-performance, affordable, sustainable internet from space to their clients where terrestrial networks are not available.
We will launch our first mission in 2025. This Early Test is dedicated to validating the core technology that will enable broadband internet transmission from space. The Early Test will pave the way for our next major milestone: an in-orbit demonstration in 2027, where two complete satellites will be deployed to further validate the system end-to-end. The following step will be to deploy our full constellation of disruptive satellites, enabling telecom operators to provide seamless connectivity worldwide.
Our project is rapidly ramping up, and we are looking to expand our team with passionate individuals who share our vision.
CONSTELLATION was created in 2022 and has offices in Toulouse and Paris. We offer exceptional learning and career development opportunities, as well as competitive salaries and benefits.
CONSTELLATION is looking for a Telecommunications Payload Engineer to join the team in our Toulouse office, reporting to the Senior Telecommunications Payload Engineer.
As Telecommunications Payload Engineer you will be instrumental to the development of regenerative payloads for our in-orbit demonstration and full satellite constellation, through the design, engineering manufacturing and operational phases of our projects. You will participate in the definition, design and development of the payloads and all their subsystems, (including RF, processor, antennas, power and control), and be responsible for ensuring correct interfaces between the payloads and the platforms to guarantee that the requirements of the overall mission are met.
Your key responsibilities and tasks:
- Develop the requirements of our payloads, working closely with the platform team and mission team to ensure compatibility with the overall mission.
- Define and own subsystem technical requirements.
- Prepare technical analyses, simulations, reports, trade-offs and recommendations as necessary to drive the development of the payloads and support the Mission engineering activities.
- Review technical documentation from internal and external suppliers and participate in their project reviews.
- Perform payload prototyping activities, including test definition, supply chain identification, in-lab integration and test execution.
- Support the AIT and industrial activities after satellite design is completed.
- Support the LEOP and operations activities after satellite launch.

- Minimum master’s level qualification in Engineering or a related discipline with at least 5 years’ experience of systems engineering for the space environment.
- Experience with telecommunications payload engineering including working with on-board digital signal processors, channelization, and beamforming; and assessing telecommunications payload performances including EIRP, G/T, C/I, and capacity.
- Familiarity with network telecom architecture, including physical, access, network layers, link budgeting is as advantage.
- Experience in broadband/backhauling NGSO constellation, electronically steerable antennas and in beam hopping systems development is as advantage.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Pragmatic, with strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
