Satellite Architect
As a Satellite Architect, you will be responsible for defining the geometric configuration of innovative new satellites, designed for very low earth orbit.
At CONSTELLATION TECHNOLOGIES & OPERATIONS we believe that everyone on Earth should have access to internet connectivity and we are on a mission to empower telecom operators to deliver high-performance, affordable, sustainable internet from space to their clients where terrestrial networks are not available.
We will launch our first mission in 2025. This Early Test is dedicated to validating the core technology that will enable broadband internet transmission from space. The Early Test will pave the way for our next major milestone: an in-orbit demonstration in 2027, where two complete satellites will be deployed to further validate the system end-to-end. The following step will be to deploy our full constellation of disruptive satellites, enabling telecom operators to provide seamless connectivity worldwide.
Our project is rapidly ramping up, and we are looking to expand our team with passionate individuals who share our vision.
CONSTELLATION was created in 2022 and has offices in Toulouse and Paris. We offer exceptional learning and career development opportunities, as well as competitive salaries and benefits.
CONSTELLATION is looking for a Satellite Architect to join the team in our Toulouse office and reports to the Satellite Senior System Engineer.
As a Satellite Architect, you will be responsible for defining the geometric configuration of innovative new satellites, designed for very low earth orbit. You will coordinate across multiple functional chains to ensure that the satellite is optimised for different needs including payload, avionics, structure, propulsion, power, integration and validation.
Your key responsibilities and tasks:
- Manage the satellite accommodation activities for both demonstrator and final constellation configurations, ensuring optimized performance and taking into account design-to-manufacturing, design-to-performance, and design-to-cost considerations.
- Collect, consolidate, and maintain all constraints from the functional chains, in close coordination with the functional chain leaders.
- Generate and maintain IRDs at the unit level, as well as for satellite-to-launcher interfaces.
- Oversee the IRD (Interface Requirement Document) and ICD (Interface Control Document) databases to ensure the coherence of the configuration across all satellite elements at all times.
- Participate in supplier TEBs (Tender Evaluation Boards) ensuring that accommodation constraints are considered in supplier selection process.
- Act as a key interface with both internal and external Design Office teams.
- Lead regular progress meetings to ensure alignment, track actions, and manage risks.
- Support the industrial team throughout the satellite integration and validation phases.
- Contribute to defining the Satellite Final Assembly Line (FAL) process in collaboration with the industrial team.
- Participate in supplier definition reviews to ensure technical consistency and performance compliance
Skills and experience
- Minimum Technician level qualification in Engineering or a related discipline with at least 7 years’ experience of Design Office in the Space domain.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Pragmatic, with strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
