Satellite Thermal Architect
As Satellite Thermal Architect, you will be responsible for the thermal design of an innovative new satellite operating in VLEO.
At CONSTELLATION TECHNOLOGIES & OPERATIONS we believe that everyone on Earth should have access to internet connectivity and we are on a mission to empower telecom operators to deliver high-performance, affordable, sustainable internet from space to their clients where terrestrial networks are not available.
We will launch our first mission in 2025. This Early Test is dedicated to validating the core technology that will enable broadband internet transmission from space. The Early Test will pave the way for our next major milestone: an in-orbit demonstration in late 2026, where two complete satellites will be deployed to further validate the system end-to-end. The following step will be to deploy our full constellation of disruptive satellites, enabling telecom operators to provide seamless connectivity worldwide.
Our project is rapidly ramping up, and we are looking to expand our team with passionate individuals who share our vision.
CONSTELLATION was created in 2022 and has offices in Toulouse and Paris. We offer exceptional learning and career development opportunities, as well as competitive salaries and benefits.
CONSTELLATION is looking for a SatelliteThermal Architect to join the team in our Toulouse office.
As Satellite Thermal Architect, you will be responsible for the thermal design of an innovative new satellite operating in VLEO. You will use your technical expertise and coordination capabilities to ensure that the satellite is designed to operate in this challenging environment and contribute to the success of the mission.
Your key responsibilities and tasks:
- Proposing thermal concepts for the in-orbit demonstration mission and the final constellation, with a focus on design to cost,
- Management of thermal interfaces with suppliers (specification, co-engineering, review of analyses, etc),
- Act as guarantor of the satellite's thermal environments. In particular, this includes taking responsibility for the environmental specifications to equipment suppliers and taking responsibility for satellite thermal control justifications (general architecture and detailed design) with respect to orbital environments.
- Technical management of the subcontractors performing detailed thermal analyses, for the satellite and/or equipment,
- Work with the satellite architect (responsible for accommodation) on thermal aspects of the satellite,
- Follow-up of equipment qualification tests with suppliers (approval of levels to be passed, acceptance of test plan and associated procedures),
- Preparation of satellite thermal tests (instrumentation plan, test plan),
- Technical authority for thermal satellite tests (TVAC, thermal balance, etc.),
- Processing of satellite thermal test results and correlation,
- Reporting on progress with suppliers (written or oral) to project managers.
Skills and experience
- Minimum Masters level qualification in Aerospace Engineering or a related topic
