Antenna Design Engineer
As Antenna Design Engineer, you will develop innovative antenna solutions based on novel electronic steering technologies.
At CONSTELLATION TECHNOLOGIES & OPERATIONS we believe that everyone on Earth should have access to internet connectivity and we are on a mission to empower telecom operators to deliver high performance, affordable, sustainable internet from space to their clients where terrestrial networks are not available.
We will launch our first mission in 2025. This Early Test is dedicated to validating the core technology that will enable broadband internet transmission from space. The Early Test will pave the way for our next major milestone: an in-orbit demonstration in late 2026, where two complete satellites will be deployed to further validate the system end-to-end. The following step will be to deploy our full constellation of disruptive satellites, enabling telecom operators to provide seamless connectivity worldwide.
Our project is rapidly ramping up, and we are looking to expand our team with passionate individuals who share our vision.
CONSTELLATION was created in 2022 and has offices in Toulouse and Paris. We offer exceptional learning and career development opportunities, as well as competitive salaries and benefits.
CONSTELLATION is looking for an Antenna Design Engineer to join the team in our Toulouse office.
As Antenna Design Engineer, you will develop innovative antenna solutions based on novel electronic steering technologies. These technologies are essential components of the satellites, gateways and user terminals and you will therefore play a key role in the success of the mission.
Your key responsibilities and tasks
- Work closely with research laboratories and antenna suppliers to understand the technologies and how to exploit them.
- Use simulation software such as Matlab, CST or comparable software to predict antenna performance in different configurations.
- Propose modifications to the antenna designs to best adapt them to our programme requirements.
- Work with Payload, User Terminal and Gateway Managers to ensure that the performance and limitations of the technology are correctly accounted for in the overall system design.
- Develop and test antenna prototypes to assess performance and compatibility with the payloads, gateways and user terminals.
- Support the Antenna Project Manager to develop the antenna into a product, by integrating the RF with the control functionalities and ensuring that it is adequately designed for the operational environments. This will involve coordinating with mechanical, thermal, and electrical engineers as well as experts in radiation, atomic oxygen and quality.
- Prepare technical analyses, simulations, reports, trade-offs and recommendations as necessary to inform project and company strategic decisions.
- Provide technical inputs for project reviews, proposals, funding applications and marketing materials.
- Support the operations and system test activities after satellite launch.
Skills and experience
- PhD in antenna/ RF design, or a master’s level qualification in Physics, Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years’ experience in RF design.
- Proficient with Matlab and simulation tools such as CST
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Highly organized with excellent reporting, synthesis, abilities.
- Curious person who loves to learn
People come in different shapes and sizes and it is difficult to write a job description for someone we have not yet met. Therefore if you are not sure that you meet all the criteria, or if you think that you may have something different to offer, we still want to hear from you.
